Probably one of my favorite songs of 2011. Probably one of the worst videos I’ve seen in my entire lifetime. I CAN’T BELIEVE THIS VIDEO WAS SERIOUS.
It’s cool, I’ll still come and watch you live.

So the past few days have been super busy, hectic, and fun. Work has been kind of stressful, but that’s because I’ve been working in Pleasanton and so many people came to my job to buy stuff. But, my shifts have been going by really fast.
Anyway, on Thursday Jon and I went to go see M83 and Active Child. We totally took our time getting there, had dinner in the city and got in line around 7:00. We only waited an hour to get in and we literally were the fourth and fifth people to get in. I’m really liking this not waiting all day to see a band deal. I get to work and be productive and still get to be in front for some of my favorite artists! I have never been to the Mezzanine before and I liked the size of it. People were telling me though that the independent is even smaller. So we waited inside and soon after Active Child came on. The bass was loud. All the beer bottles on the stage were hopping around, but they put on a really good show. Pat Grossi has just an amazing, amazing voice. And he also SHREDDED HARD ON HIS HARP. I feel like Active Child is one of those bands you either really love, or confused by. Lots of people I asked from other shows were like “Meh, they were whatever. It was weird, it was different” WELL, I’m going on record right here saying how much I love them.
After their set, there was a little bit of a wait but it was totally worth it. M83 came on and put on an amazingly ridiculous show. There were a few technical difficulties in the beginning but they more than made up for it. Morgan Kibby is my friggin’ girl crush. She is so amaaazing! And apparently, she was in that Nick show 100 Deeds for Eddie Mcdowd. Hilarious. They played mostly new stuff, but that’s okay. Steve Mcqueen was as expected, amazing. And their encore was You, Appearing + Couleurs. I’m sad that it’s all over, I’m sad I couldn’t hear Sitting, Unrecorded, or any of the other tracks that I love but they have so many great tracks so it would almost be impossible to disappoint.
And the last photo is obviously not of M83. Jon and I went to see Black Keys in SJ Courtesy of DENNIS, thank you so very much for giving us those tickets. Saw Elaine too! But it was a really fun show. I love their energy and really want to catch them again sometime (and much closer). The only problem is that since Black Keys are pretty popular, there were tons of BROS at the show so it was a little annoying. Other than that, it was aaaalllll goooood.
Now we just have the National, Local Natives, and Wye Oak to round out the year!
